The Clearaudio Ovation Wood incorporates high performance technology from their Innovation Wood series of turntables in a more affordable "lifestyle" design echoing the award winning ergonomics and simplicity of the Clearaudio Concept. Like the Innovation Wood, Innovation Wood Compact, and Master Innovation Wood, the main chassis consists of a complex sandwich of materials: aluminium - bullet-proof-wood (Panzerholz) - aluminium. However, within the precision-machined Panzerholz layer, Clearaudio has introduced an elaborate resonance damping measure unique to the Ovation Wood: an internal "mat" comprised of approximately 100,000 tiny stainless steel balls. The powerful and smooth-running bespoke DC motor is equipped with Clearaudio's OSC "Optical Speed Control" technology which continuously monitors a micro infrared strobe to ensure exact speed stability. The motor, integrated within and effectively decoupled from the main chassis, drives a precision machined aluminium sub-platter and main 40mm POM platter, both of which are supported by Clearaudio's patented CMB (Ceramic Magnetic Bearing). The Ovation's speed is operated by four blue illuminated buttons, ergonomically integrated into the front left of the chassis. The Ovation Wood comes standard fitted with Clearaudio's magnetic bearing Clarify tonearm. However with its interchangeable armboard technology, the Ovation can accommodate a variety of 9 inch tonearms including Clearaudio's Magnify and Universal tonearms.
