This technology involves a lower platter, belt-driven by a precision DC motor. This "couples" with a mated upper platter via a highly focused magnetic field. The upper platter, in turn, is directly connected to the main platter. The upper platter/main platter assembly is mated to a special sealed version of a Clearaudio Ceramic Magnetic Bearing (CMB). Clearaudio's Magnetic Platter Drive technology effectively isolates the main platter from even the most minute vibrations produced by the motor and belt. Once in motion the two platters remain "locked in" with each other for precise pitch and speed accuracy.
