The fourth generation of the original Benz wood body cartridge, the Ref S ($2,500 MSRP) uses the MicroRidge stylus and the generator developed for the Ebony L (.26mV at 3.54cm/sec, 5 ohm coil impedance). It is ideal with high gain phono stages (>60dB) with input impedance of less than 300 ohms or when using step-up transformers.
